Hi there! Welcome to Sugar Plum, a blog I created a few years ago to share my recipe creations with the world. I feature original recipes and photography a few times a week. My name is Emily. I love sweets. I can't think of a dessert I would turn down. I bake something almost every single day. I live in St. Louis, Missouri with my boyfriend, Eric, but I'm originally from Ozark, Missouri - where my family lives. I graduated from the French Pastry School in December, 2012.
I love creating and writing recipes, and have won quite a few recipe contests doing so. I've been featured on Food Network (twice), Cooking Channel, and several nationally published magazines and cookbooks. I would like to work in a test kitchen for a food company or publication as a recipe developer or food stylist. I'd also like to branch out into freelance recipe development. Someday I want to write a cookbook. And of course, I want to continue writing this blog for you!
Thank you for visiting my blog! I appreciate it more than you know.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why did you start this blog?
-Two years ago I was baking frequently for friends and family, for holidays and events, and cooking contests. I had all of these recipe in my head, and I needed to write them down somewhere. Not only did I have recipes churning in my head, but thoughts on life. I had been reading several food blogs at that time, and the writers inspired me to start my own. I hope I've inspired others to do the same.
What do you do with all of the things you bake?
-I always eat them, of course. I give away the desserts Eric (he brings them to work), family and friends. I do keep some around the house, but sadly throw them away a lot of the time because Eric and I can't eat them all.
Would you like to review our company's product?
-If it's something relevant to my blog that I'm interested in, then I will review a product. Email me at sugarplumblog (at) yahoo (dot) com.
Could you develop recipes using our company's product?
-Of course! Email me (see above) and we'll discuss!
Do you have any photography tips?
-Yes I do!
Do you have any blogging tips?
-Oh do I! Here they are!
How are you able to develop recipes without looking at cookbooks?
-I think after following recipes from cookbooks for so many years, I just sort of developed an eye for it. I know just about how much flour, leavening, sugar, etc. that goes into certain baked goods - cookies, cakes, brownies, pies. I don't have an exact system or anything, though. I'm sure there's got to be some sort of system that exists. I say 90% of the time my desserts turn out, but there definitely are some times when they don't. I'm not afraid to experiment with my recipes and baking. I know this is awful, but a lot of the time I taste the raw batter to make sure the flavors are right.
Can I use your photos and recipes on my site?
-Of course! But please give me credit for it by linking back to me.
