It was only supposed to be a 4 hour float trip....

But it turned into a 9 hour-one.

I went on an eleven mile float trip on the river, and it took 9 hours. 9 very long hours of sitting in a raft. The first couple of miles were fun, but after that, well...I just wanted to go home. I tried to paddle to speed the process up, but I don't think I was paddling right. I've never been floating before.

I went with a big group of girls - about 22, and it was a pretty crazy time. Who knew you could fit that much liquor on three inflatable rafts/2 canoes? Most of the liquor was something called, Summer Brew. A satisfying concoction of Keystone, vodka, and lemonade or fruit punch.

It wasn't long before all was lost.

Earlier in the day, we actually tried to steer the rafts, so they wouldn't hit the trees and rocks, but later, nobody seemed to care. We kept running into tree limbs and the canoes would tip over. Or if you were in a raft, somebody would yell out, "Oh crap! Duck!" And we'd all crouch down to avoid the limbs. I had my feet in the air at one point, for some reason (that doesn't make me sound good), and my legs got all scratched up. I have bruises too.

Anyway, it was a long day. When I got home, I was sore, sunburnt, and really thirsty. I drank a ton of ice tea and water. Of course that could have been from the two pastrami sandwiches I ate.....
I'm still recovering.
But it was fun! I'd do it again.

Here's a picture of me in my shades - I look just like Jackie O:

Look at how my hair flows!

Baking Blonde tagged me for a meme, but guess what? I've already completed that one. I couldn't come up with any new answers, so I thought I'd do another meme that looked kind of fun. It's long though. Heh...I tagged some people at the end. Take that!

  1. Sounds like quite an "adventure." NINE hours?! That's some serious floating. I liked your meme. Why is it always "over easy or sunny side up?" Normal people like 'em scrambled. Whatever.

I am posting today a little about those muffins of yours that I adore, just so you know.

  4. Wow that is one loooong tubing trip. You must of definately passed the "ok guys... stop being funny, lets go home now". As long as you had sunscreen and drinks, I'm sure it was fun. (No really).

Oh, and thanks for the tag of a bagillion questions... I can't have the cool queen of sweets mad at me though :)

  5. What a trip! Last year my family and I went on a raft trip down the snake river. The guide told us that it would take between three and five hours. I thought my kids would die a thousand boredom deaths if they had to sit on a raft for five hours, so my husband and I paddled like mad the whole time-and the trip lasted ONE HOUR. When we got back we wished we would have gone slower, much slower. I sure hope it's not a metaphor for my life.
I love the Jackie O shot-plus all your answers. I agree-the person that sent you this is pretty amazing-and pretty darn funny too and very glam from what I can see in that sunglasses shot.:)

  6. Em,
Forget baking! Forget cooking school! Get yourself to Paris and become a model! You look gorgeous! Do you mind if I copy that picture and pretend it's me?

That trip sounds great. Legs in the air, scratches, bruises and lots of alcohol...It sounds like you could be the next Kate Moss.

Thanks for the longest meme in the world. At least the questions are short and don't require essays.

  7. Daaaaaaammnn yoooouuuuuu! I will do this because I'm feeling a bit self-absorbed today, and because you're a sweet lil' ladybug.

  10. LOL @ Sue.
Glad you had fun on the trip. Seems like you've been having a pretty cool time this summer, going hither and yon. As per usual, mine is sucking. I'm living vicariously through you. No bruises and scratches though. Even though I do plan on going out drinking with friends tonight...

  14. Dude, that picture of you is HAWT!

And, I would die after 9 hours on a river...or pass out drunk.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 9 hours is a long time, i'd be ready to swim after about 3 hours. We went on an overnight canoe trip once and camped out on a little island all without anyone else around. It was a ton of fun.

  16. thats too funny I went on a 5 mile raft trip that took 6 hours (our part) and it would have been longer except our rubber raft sprung a leak in mosquitoville.....we had to walk - which was way faster!

you should have tagged ZenChef! LOL

  17. 9 hours is a long time! Sounds like you had fun though, eventually, once you got over the worse!!
